Drug Interactions

Medications used to treat MS have a wide number of possible drug interactions. To avoid complications from drug interactions:
  • Carry an updated list of all medications that you are taking to show your physician, pharmacist or other health care providers.
  • Whenever possible use the same pharmacy for all your medication needs. This will increase your chances of avoiding drug interactions, since computer software programs are designed to alert pharmacists to drug interactions with any past or present medications.
  • Always consult with your pharmacist and/or physician before taking any new medications. This includes over the counter medications, herbal supplements or other alternative therapies, since these treatments may interact with your prescription medications, non-prescription medications and/or disease state(s).
