Signs and symptoms experienced by people with MS vary considerably and depend on the location of the affected nerve fibers. Symptoms may include:
- Visual disturbances- double vision, blurred vision or partial or complete loss of vision (usually in one eye at a time and often with pain during eye movement)
- Muscle weakness- Numbness or weakness in one or more limbs, which typically occurs on one side of the body at a time or the bottom half of the body
- Sensations such as numbness, prickling, tingling, pain or "pins and needles" in parts of the body
- Muscle stiffness or spasticity
- Partial or complete paralysis
- Electric-shock sensations that occur with certain head movements
- Trouble with coordination and balance, unsteady gait
- Concentration and memory problems
- Extreme fatigue
- Dizziness
- Difficulties with bladder and or bowel function
- Sexual difficulties
